Dr. Sarah E. Quinton is the Clinical Director of Fuller Counseling Group and she has over a decade of experience in the mental health field. Prior to joining Fuller Counseling Group, Dr. Quinton was the Director of Behavioral Medicine for Digestive Health, the Co-Director of Integrated Bowel Dysfunction Clinic, and Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Quinton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development; a Master of Arts degree in Gerontological Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Quinton has specialized in treatment related to gastrointestinal conditions, chronic pain, and related disorders.

As a practitioner, Dr. Quinton’s goal is to better understand the complex interplay of psychological and social issues which impact health experiences to improve the quality of life for those with chronic or acute medical conditions. She specializes in working with those with digestive health conditions (IBS, IBD, NASH, obesity), headache conditions (migraines, cluster headaches), cancer (particularly women with BRCA 1 and BRCA2), and cognitive disorders related to aging and disease. Dr. Quinton uses and promotes evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches to assist patients in obtaining better disease control and to feel empowered about their care. Dr. Quinton utilizes evidence-based treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Medical Hypnotherapy, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MSBR) to help patients address their symptoms, coping, and wellbeing.

Dr. Quinton has published and spoken extensively on issues related to behavioral health, coping with chronic illness, and digestive health. She has been an invited speaker at the American Neurogastro­enterology and Motility Society, the National Pancreas Foundation, and at forums including the Northwestern Gastroenterology Conference, the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, and at the Stroke Colloquium at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and Alexian Brothers Neurosciences Institute.

Dr. Quinton lives in the Chicago area with her husband, kids, cats, and dog (and both loves and is exasperated by the chaos).
